Have you thought about what to consider before you even start looking for your wedding venue?
Locking in a venue is usually the first task freshly engaged couples have to deal with.
This is an exciting period because you are getting married and you can start planning your dream wedding.
The issue is, that many couples don’t really plan too much in advance and end up feeling confused and overwhelmed.
In this article, I will discuss a few things you should think about before you start looking for your amazing wedding venue.
What’s my vision?
It doesn’t matter where you live, chances are there are a ton of wedding venues out there.
The thing is, which one is right for you?
Before you start looking for your wedding venue, it’s important to know what’s your style and vision.
Jump on either Instagram or Pinterest and look for the wedding style you like most.
Boho and rustic weddings have been very popular recently.
But you could also opt-in for a modern and classic theme. Or a funky one, why not?
This will help you picture in your mind the kind of wedding you are after and help you narrow down your choices.
What matters to me the most?
Ok so now you have an idea of the style you’d like to go for. But there are still so many details to establish to find the right venue for you.
At this point, I would suggest sitting down with your partner and discussing what matters to you most.
If you really want all your friends to celebrate with you, capacity will be a big factor to consider.
If you are a food lover like me, the quality and choice of the food provided by the venue will influence your decision.
If you want to party hard till sunrise, you’ll need to find a venue that allows you to do that.
Knowing what really is important to you will give you clarity and help you find the right place.
Can I afford it without stretching too much?
Sorry to bring you back to reality, but budgets matter. A lot.
I haven’t put the budget factor on top of the list because I think you should still go ahead and decide what style you like most first.
It’s your wedding after all and you should pursue your vision.
But after you have a rough idea, you should deal with knowing exactly what’s your budget, and how much of it should go towards the venue.
When thinking about the cost of the venue, make sure to include all the possible costs.
Lots of venues have pre-defined wedding packages that can be tailored to your needs.
Make sure to double-check with the coordinator what’s included and what’s not. Usually, extras are very expensive and can blow out your budget very quickly.

How many people will I invite?
This is another huge factor to consider.
Are you going for an elopement with only 15 people? Or do you want to organise a massive party with 200 guests?
Of course, the number of guests you’d like to invite will influence your choice.

Where do I want the ceremony to take place?
Here in Australia, many people decide to have the ceremony and the reception at the same place.
It makes everyone’s life much easier because you won’t have to drive around, move guests, find a car park etc.
But this is your wedding so if you want the ceremony to be on top of a mountain or in the city centre’s church..well, do it!
Just keep in mind where and when you’d like the ceremony to take place related to the possible wedding venue.
Of course, there are more small details to consider when looking for the best wedding venue for you.
But in my opinion, those are the things you must consider before you even start looking.
