How to choose a marriage celebrant for your wedding?
It can be a tricky experience for grooms and brides to be.
There are so many vendors to contact and hire for your wedding day, and a marriage celebrant is absolutely among the most important.
But how do you choose the right one? There are so many people in the industry nowadays, and the choice can be difficult.
Keep calm and hold on, because I’ve got you covered! We asked these questions to Liz Hayes, a marriage celebrant based in Perth, Western Australia.
What to look for?
Liz celebrated her first wedding in 2008, and since then, she fell in love with her job.
Liz has been celebrating countless weddings for over 12 years, spending her time in Perth but also in Bali, Indonesia.
She particularly loves to celebrate weddings on the beautiful island in the Java sea. In Bali, she has teamed up with two friends, one photographer and one florist, and together they provide professional services for any type of wedding.
For Liz, everything is about the natural interaction between the couple.
She puts a lot of effort into understanding the couple’s emotions and bring them to the ceremony on their wedding day. The size of the wedding doesn’t matter as long as there is a natural connection.
So how do you choose a marriage celebrant for your wedding?
According to Liz, the connection between the couple and the celebrant is really important.
You want to look for someone that you feel can reflect your wishes into your ceremony.
Plus, you have to feel comfortable with your wedding celebrant to make sure everything will go smoothly on the day of your wedding.
Before a wedding, a couple would usually meet with two or three celebrants.
They want to look for someone confident and experienced who listens to them.
Most importantly, you want to look for someone who has empathy. Liz believes your celebration needs a bit of lightness and fun, but you want to bring it down when it comes to the key moments.
Be patient
So if after a few phone calls you still don’t feel you have found the right person, keep looking.
You want to make sure you are 100% comfortable and confident with your choice, so you won’t be wondering if that vendor is the right choice for you on your wedding day.
After all, your wedding is among the most important days of your life, and all you should be doing is enjoying the day with the people you love.
